Not to be lost in the new Fit EV's record setting EPA figures, Chevrolet has updated the Volt's batteries to hold more electricity and be more durable over the long run. Total battery capacity has ticked up by .5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 16.5 kWh. The usable electricity from the battery (the Volt never completely depletes the battery) has also risen by .5 kWh to 10.8 kWh. The newly added electricity thus allows the Volt to travel 3 miles farther on electricity to 38 miles. Overall range is up to 380 miles, about four to five times more range than most solely electricity powered car.
Mileage is pushed to 101 MPGe in the city, while the highway rating is still 93 MPGe. For reference, the new Fit EV's mileage is 132/105 city/highway.
