2014 Audi R8 Pricing

For the 2014 model year, the Audi R8 was refreshed. Today - which happens to be the day the car officially goes on sale - pricing is released.

The R8 coupe has a base price of $119150 with a 430-horsepower V-8 and a six-speed manual transmission, which is a $700 increase over the 2013 model. The automatic transmission (a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic) model costs $128250. The spyder (convertible) starts at $132650 for the manual and $141750 for the automatic.

To get the 525-horsepower V-10, you have to pay at least $155450, and that gets you the manual. The automatic V-10 coupe costs $164550. The spyder V-10 costs $168950 and $178050 respectively.

A new trim level is the V-10 Plus trim, which has a 550-horsepower, 398 pounds-feet of torque version of the 5.2-liter V-10 in the regular V-10 model. That represents a bump of 25 horsepower and 7 pounds-feet of torque over the base V-10. A smaller fuel tank, a carbon fiber splitter, carbon fiber side blades, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, manual seats, and less sound insulation around the engine lead Audi to approximate that the Plus weighs 130 pounds less compared the regular V-10 model. The 0 to 60 time Audi estimates for a Plus model with an automatic transmission is 3.3 seconds, and top speed is 196 miles per hour. The Plus only comes as a coupe, and the manual is $174795 while the automatic version is $183895.

Otherwise, all 2014 R8s have new wave-rotor brakes, restyled LED headlights and taillights, dual exhausts instead of quad exhaust tips, and new interior trim.

Mini's Continuation of Expensive Little Cars

The John Cooper Works (JWC for short) moniker for Mini has meant high performance. Now, the Cooper John Cooper Works is supplemented by the bigger John Cooper Works Countryman. An all-wheel-drive, 1.6-liter turbocharged four cylinder powered fun little hatchback might lead you to believe it would be sensibly priced, but the JWC Countryman instead starts at $35550, and that's only the beginning of the story for more options. At that point, you can get a lightly equipped sports sedan than is more powerful and far more refined than the JWC Countryman would be. If you really want Mini's British charm and relatively go-cart like handling with more space than a regular JWC Cooper and an even costlier JWC Cooper convertible, this is it for you. The JWC package does get you 19-inch wheels and red trim inside and out, though. If you're looking at competitors, the Volkswagen Golf R will have to be the sole car. 2003 Honda Odyssey EX-L Review

Those of you who have been following this blog since its inception know that my parents have two cars: a 2006 Nissan Sentra and a 2005 Mazda MPV. Well, we recently swapped our dear little MPV for a 2003 Odyssey. The reason for that is, well, there isn't much reason. It's mostly to spice things up in our lives and have a different car for a change without spending any extra money. Our Odyssey came with every bell and whistle you could get in a minivan in 2003, including a factory-installed DVD entertainment system, leather seats, heated seats in the front, and dual power sliding doors. First impressions were a mixed bag. The engine was very smooth, quiet, and powerful, apparently typical of Hondas, but there was a rough patch between 1000 and 1500 RPM or so. Well, it's that time of the year where students go back to school, and I am no exception. Since this is my first year of high school, I am super excited and anxious.
