The Past Four Days

So I actually came back from San Antonio Friday night, but I was too lazy to post my update of my trip because I had so much stuff to do after the trip, and I was too lazy to do anything. So here is my trip.

Day 1

We started off in our 2005 Mazda MPV to Llano, Texas. My family originally wanted to drive on I-35, but our GPS insisted that driving on rural roads was somehow faster. We listened to the GPS, and we were led on a highway. The highway soon turned into a relatively busy two lane. There was a stretch of road construction. Needless to say, we were stuck in traffic for a while. I put on some Whitney Houston. After the traffic, the rest of the trip was smooth. We ate at a local Sonic in a little town.

Then we hit country road 2005. It was literally in the middle of nowhere, with no civilization to be found on either side of the road. There were probably 4 or 5 cars that we passed in the 16 mile stretch of road.

We came back to a larger road about twenty minutes later. Form then on, there wasn't much drama. Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes populated the side of the road. Eventually, we arrived at our destination, Enchanted Rock, a giant dome of granite rising about 1850 feet above the ground. There were many people there, which is surprising because it was a Thursday and there weren't many people the last two times we went there.

The climb up and down wasn't hard, but I had altitude sickness so it was frightening for me. It was actually scarier going up. Anyways, we spent about an hour and a half at the place before we continued to Kerrville, where we stopped at the Guadelupe River.

We arrived at San Antonio at about seven. All the hotels were full. We borrowed Starbuck's Wi-Fi and booked a Comfort Suites in San Marcos. Then, we ate at a Pho noodle place at University Square.

It was ten at night when we pulled in at Comfort Suites. The entire front of the Mazda was covered in insects of all kind. Everybody took a shower and fell asleep.

Day 2

We woke at about eight in the morning. We left the hotel at ten after eating breakfast and getting ready for the day. First was a cave. It was nice, with plenty of intriguing formations and odd things. The next stop was the San Marcos Premium outlets, where we spent a long time shopping. Lunch was had at the Taste of China buffet. We started home after lunch on the interstate.

That's when traffic hit us. It was all stop and go from somewhere in between San Marcos and Austin to just north of Austin. The jam was horrible. After traffic sped up, a gray van about eight cars ahead of us kept braking. Then, he braked really hard and almost caused an accident. A black Dodge Ram went off the side of the road right in front of a big rig, which swerved off the highway and left room for a panicking Lexus RX. Fortunately, all was well once that snafu ended. We arrived home safely at around seven thirty PM.

Day 3

My dad and I decided to get the car washed. We went to TradeMark Car Wash on McDermott Street in Allen, Texas. Once we got the car back, there were two new dents on the A-pillar and scratches on the driver's door! We did not pay 12 dollars to get our car destroyed!

2003 Honda Odyssey EX-L Review

These pictures aren't of the actual vehicle, but the colors and trim level are correct. Those of you who have been following this blog since its inception know that my parents have two cars: a 2006 Nissan Sentra and a 2005 Mazda MPV. Well, we recently swapped our dear little MPV for a 2003 Odyssey.  The reason for that is, well, there isn't much reason. It's mostly to spice things up in our lives and have a different car for a change without spending any extra money. Our Odyssey came with every bell and whistle you could get in a minivan in 2003, including a factory-installed DVD entertainment system, leather seats, heated seats in the front, and dual power sliding doors.  First impressions were a mixed bag. The engine was very smooth, quiet, and powerful, apparently typical of Hondas, but there was a rough patch between 1000 and 1500 RPM or so. You can't feel the road textures at all while driving the car, but it crashed loudly over larger bumps. Loud can als

2015 Honda Accord LX Sedan Long Term Update

Hey readers! It's been a long time since I've posted on this blog. In fact, it's been more than half a year. I'm really sorry to the negative three people who read this blog regularly, but here is a new post! School is finally winding down, so I thought that I'd review the new Accord my family bought last September and give an update on how it's doing.  In the highly-competitive, yet stagnating, field of midsize family sedans, the Accord has reigned as the best or second-best seller for many years. After a controversial eighth generation that ran from 2008 to 2012, the ninth generation is considered Honda's comeback to producing quality products.

Big News: We Bought a New Car!

It is an exciting day for me! As the title says, my family bought a new car! We haven't done that since 10 years ago when we bought our 2006 Nissan Sentra.  There it is, parked on the driveway right after we drove home from the dealership. Isn't the color so nice? The interior is beige, too! It's the perfect color combination.  Getting that car to be on our driveway, though, was a laborious and drawn-out task. We started car-shopping yesterday morning, when my dad and I test drove the Camry and Accord.  At first, we headed for the Ford dealer intending to test drive the Taurus and Fusion, but it shunned us by saying that it was "too busy for test drives." There were maybe two other people at the dealership then. Whatever.  We then headed to a semi-rural Honda dealership in search of an Accord. I was expecting it to be loud and firm-riding in traditional Honda fashion. Instead, it impressed me with its solidity. Unfortunately, the specific Accord we test
